Happy Holidays From The Hendersons

I just wanted to quickly say happy holidays to all of you who celebrate in any way and thank you so, so much for being here this year (or even just today). I know that not everyone experiences the holidays the same way (this time of year can be so hard for many people). So wherever you are, however you are feeling, I hope you can give yourself some time, grace, and space to be with those you love and who make you feel good. The EHD team office will be closed for the full two weeks, and I’m just so relieved and grateful to be here with my family in the post-holiday scramble quiet. It’s the best week, between Christmas and New Year’s, when a lot of the world shuts down, and you hear a collective societal sigh. I hope you get offline, out in some sort of nature (or whatever version of “quiet” that is for you) and spend time with people who fill you up. We are headed to Big Sky, just the four of us, to ski on what is meant to be the easiest mountain for beginners (me!), so wish me luck. I’m still learning (and it’s not going that well), but I am also bringing many books to read and have booked a massage, just in case I have to bail mid-day. Regardless, it’s nice to be in nature, moving my body with my kids (even if my nervous system is perhaps overwhelmed with fear of say, dying or hurting someone else). Learning to ski at 46 is not for the faint of heart!!

happy holidays

Of course, we’ll have a few fun end-of-year posts over the next week, should you want to connect or be entertained:) But mostly I’ll be with these people, and a few pets (and possibly a new kitten or two!), squeezing every moment of comfort out of this year. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and thank you so much for being here. My family and my team value every second we get to do this, and are grateful for every one of you who spends time here. xx

Happy Holidays!! I also have the same fears with skiing but do it anyway and bail when I am ready. It’s still so much fun and such a different climate than where I live.
We got two kitten brothers and it is so good for them to have a playmate and so so fun to watch! Would be a fun post sometime to hear about what your kids think about your job, getting dressed up for pictures, etc now that they are older!! Thanks for great content, but more for the kind heart you and your staff have!!

Have a wonderful holiday and a fantastic trip with your family. You and your team absolutely deserve that post-Christmas slow down. Thank you so much for all you do; your blog is truly my daily treat. Happy Holidays to all you readers as well. It’s nice to be part of this online readership; I learn from you all as well as from Emily and her team. 🙂

Big Sky! I worked there one season when I was in college. It’s awesome that you are learning to ski. Thank you for the blog and Merry Christmas!

Is Big Sky really the best mountain for beginners? I’m an intermediate skier but not a very skilled one, lol (started as an adult). Please report back on how it went for beginners! I live in MT and have wondered whether Big Sky is worth the extra money, since it’s twice as expensive as our smaller local ski mountains, but it’s still cheaper for me to drive to Bozeman than for most people to fly there, so… I’m considering it!

Heading to Bozeman for the holidays – don’t miss out on skiing at Bridger Bowl. About a 90 minute drive from Big Sky but well worth it. Better skiing and certainly a way more chill vibe than Big Sky. End the day at the Grizz. It’s like skiing in the 70’s! EI enjoy your trip and don’t miss hanging out in Bozeman for the day 🙂
