While I was preparing this post and scouring the internet for the latest and greatest Black Friday sales, I saw an article titled “Are Millennials Set to Kill Black Friday, Too?” and immediately clicked. I simply had to catch up on how we are set to ruin yet another time honored tradition. Upon reading, I chuckled to myself because the article merely points out that Cyber Monday is the more popular sale day as of late and that many people wait until Monday to buy gifts for themselves. Noted.

In truth, EHD team waits all year for these sales and we don’t discriminate over Black Friday. We’ll take a sale any day, especially ones as good as the below. And I have good news! Many of the sales are running from today all the way through Cyber Monday (and some stretch on even further). I expect I am in good company and that many of you have been patient for many months, with items in your carts, waiting for this very day to click purchase. Well, here we are and I hope you get that deal you’ve been looking for and then some. Now, let’s see what deals we can score:

Alright, there you have it. Do tell us all the great stuff you found, and of course we’d love to hear about any promotions we missed:) happy shopping! xx

  1. Black Friday has become a grotesque exercise in crass commercialism now spanning now one day, not one week, and not even one month. The term has lost all meaning and retailers apply it to almost any sale, often beginning earlier in the fall. We would only be so lucky for Millennials or any cohort of people to kill this beast once and for all.

    1. 100% agree, well said

      1. I completely agree; thank you, Susanna.

None of these deals (or others I’ve been seeing since the end of October) even sound all that great. So many exceptions and exclusions; memberships or subscriptions required …

        1. Agree. EHD is, frankly, shockingly unreflective about its consumerist/capitalist practices and promotions. EHD needs to read more articles that are actually critical of “the time honoured tradition” of Black Friday (as well as other things like the extremely harmful industry of fast fashion/design) and then maybe EHD will put more thought into what kind of world it’s promoting and the environmental costs of all this consumerism and less thought into how Emily Henderson’s expensive houses should be arranged on any given day. You’ve established yourselves. Now please be a more ethical company and think more about those less privileged and future generations. Surely there are ways for design and lifestyle influencing to be meaningful, reflective of its environmental and labour footprint, and contribute more to the overall good.

          1. Good grief, Charlie Brown!

    2. Ouch, folks! Overall, I agree, and have said the same thing. But a) 20% might not sound like a lot until you get up into the hefty price tag stratosphere, which is very applicable when talking about furniture, and b) even if it weren’t, it seems mean to even mention that here. I don’t think any of us knows how much time and effort goes into posts like this, and to do all that work and then read from commenters, basically, “This stinks! You’re sending the wrong message. Thanks for nothing,” well, that’d sting. I think the members of team EHD are doing what they’re always trying to do: provide a service for us, their readers. I also think it’s a good idea to at least acknowledge that. Granted, yes, it would be nice to see the out-of-control commercialism that runs rampant this time of year abate, and it doesn’t help that because we basically now just have two holidays, Halloween and Christmas, with Christmas beginning on Halloween (thank you, Hallmark 😠), with people and businesses from event venues to malls to online retailers and happy to fill those days with things to buy and do, no. For all the yapping about the true reason for the season, we do see a lot less or zero manger/the importance of family togetherness and service to mankind (although Emily just did a post about that, too, folks) and a lot more Christmas trees, sales, songs, odd pictures of feet in comfy socks and perfectly primped Insta posts filled with coiffed hair, cutesy smiles and cocoa — in other words, largely the stuff you buy. America does not do ‘simple’ well or for reasonable periods of time, and whatever is fun takes precedence over everything else, and that is disheartening. But all that said, I’ve noticed that EHD strives to accommodate us and reach a balance. It is what it is for now, and it doesn’t look like things will change any time soon. We can try to change that. In the meantime, I don’t think it too much to ask to say thank you (seriously, big thanks, EHD! ☺), especially if you end up saving money from that sale that wasn’t all that great because you got a gift you might not have thought about if it weren’t for this blog after all. Ho ho ho.

    3. Oy. No one is forcing you to participate in Black Friday. I find sanctimony to be a “grotesque exercise” myself.

    4. Well, it’s also a big day for EHD too, though, all the referral links mean more money.

  2. Question- since Article’s sale goes through 12/1, do you think they will have an even better Cyber Monday sale? I have bar stools in my cart and was hoping they’d go on sale but they aren’t part of the Black Friday sale. Any thoughts on what they might do for Cyber Monday?
Also, Rejuvenation is having 20% off up to $1,500 and 25% off above $1,500. It doesn’t say when that ends and I wonder if there will be a better Cyber Monday sale. Loving West Elm’s black Friday sale!!!!!

    1. I bought a dining table last year from Article during their Black Friday sale and if I remember correctly, Cyber Monday offered the same deals but with free shipping.

      1. Thanks! Any recollection on what Rejuvenation does for Cyber Monday?

  3. Never been a black Friday shopper! (Boomer)

  4. black friday is a day i can afford to get good gifts for 9 grandchildren, 12 adults and assorted friends. i do it all online with a budget and i don’t overspend. the kids compose lists on thanksgiving day. it’s fun to watch the listmaking, the methods (charts, bullets, lists, illustrations), the handwriting as it matures, the individual preferences as they develop. the kids are very reasonable and i love to watch their thought processes. i worked hard all my life, through good and bad times. now i am sharing what i earned. i feel no guilt about this. signed: grandmother

    1. Good for you, Annie!!! Those are lucky grandkids/kids/friends. And yeah- there shouldn’t be any guilt around taking advantage of a sale!

  5. Emily is a designer providing you information on design items offered at a discount. Yes, the whole holiday season is an exercise in excess. I personally hate it. But I am also a designer and find posts like this very helpful in that someone else has done the work for me. I waited specifically for this day to be able to make purchases for my business at a discount. If you read this blog, I am assuming you are interested in design and decor – which costs $$. The ‘holier-than-thou’ speeches about commercialism are misplaced at best. If you’re so offended by the concept of a sale – or feel there are too many sales – then wait until next week and pay full price.

  6. I like Black Friday and appreciate EH for giving us this info. I make a list of house related stuff (and makeup!) and wait each year for sales, then I have fun shopping and receiving what I’ve waited and planned for if it goes on enough of a sale. Thanks, EH! Please continue your coverage.

  7. My favorite cyber Monday sale is always Matteo. 50% off my favorite sheets that I can normally never afford. I look forward to it every year. I guess if you live in LA you can get clearance stuff at the actual store, but I don’t live in LA.
