I Found The Most Comfortable Sandals (For Walking, Exploring Or The Beach)

I’m thrilled to finally check “foot model” off my bucket list. It was a long road to get here, especially considering my feet. But after having a few cute but uncomfortable sandal mishaps, I was determined to find, try on, and share with you the most comfortable sandals for all-day walking (not date night, not to look super cute, but to be comfortable and not curse your feet on hour three). If you are active or have trips coming up (or just can’t handle being uncomfortable anymore like me), this is your post. A lot of these were taken from your suggestions.

Comfortable Sandals: Fishermans

sandals

The Fisherman Sandal (Size 7)

Baby’s first Rothy’s. And now I get it. These wrap you like a GD hug and move with you to the point that you don’t feel like you are wearing what the rest of society calls “shoes”.

The Fisherman Sandal (Size 7)

The Fisherman Sandal (Size 7)

Wow, wow, wow. These are just SO comfortable. They’re so lightweight and stretchy. They’re stretchy enough that you can just slip them on; you don’t have to redo the buckle. These are definitely 10-hour, cute walking shoes! Now, they don’t have a ton of arch support, but the footbed is super soft, and again, the straps are so soft, you can barely feel them. Plus, Rothy’s is made out of recycled plastic. 10/10. I’d say they are a 6 on the cute scale, but they are a 12/10 on the comfort scale, so it balances it all out.

Sand Riley Jelly Sandals (Size 7)

I got these last year because they looked cute and easy to wear, but not all jellies are made equally. These aren’t uncomfortable, but when compared to other jellies, they feel like a much harder plastic.

These are pretty cute, pretty comfy, pretty versatile, but ultimately, I’ve found that while I’ve had them for a while, I don’t grab them very often. And they look a little more juvenile. I’m including them here because they are so affordable and cute, but on a comfort level, they were just OK.

VIBAe Capri Fisherman Flats (Size 7)

Well, for this price, these BETTER be comfy…and they absolutely are.

VIBAe Capri Fisherman Flats (Size 7)

I bought the mule version of these last summer, before they were on the internet, and while I love them, they are also stylistically very specific.

VIBAe Capri Fisherman Flats (Size 7)

Rubber sole, leather uppers, very cool stitching, very supportive, good arch. Super soft leather underneath. You could definitely walk all day in these (like 10+ hours). The shape sort of cradles your heel, and they feel like a 12/10 on the comfort scale. But very splurgy and honestly the wide foot look isn’t for everyone.

The Milano Fisherman Sandal (Size 7)

I love Madewell, but these were a miss for me…

The Milano Fisherman Sandal (Size 7)

These are Madewell’s version of the fisherman sandal, and if I’m being totally honest, they’re pretty annoying to put on. These might be better for narrow feet (my feet are wide). I struggled to get them on. But once I did…they were prettyyy cute. I like how delicate they are. There is a nice soft but stiff footbed, but for how long it takes to get into them, I think they’re kind of missing the mark of the casual shoe that they’re trying to be. However, these are flattering, they would look fantastic with dresses, and great for work in an office.

Comfortable Sandals: Strappy/Active

Danner Josef Leather Sandals (Size 7)

I want to love these because they look very cool and they’re Danner, which is a great brand. But they’re a little confusing to put on with the magnetic closure, and I don’t know that I trust that they won’t eventually break. The straps are loose. They have more of a sneaker base, as they’ll move with you. They look cool, but for an active strappy sandal like this, I’d opt for Tevas or Keens.

Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn Kel Leopard Double-Strap Sandals (Size 7)

Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn Kel Leopard Double-Strap Sandals (Size 7)

These are SO cute and still have a nice grippy bottom and a good footbed. I wouldn’t necessarily bring these on a trip where I knew I’d be walking around for 10 hours, but they’re still pretty dang comfortable and are a pair that I know I’ll be reaching for a ton. I’m wearing these right now on a weekend away in Napa with my girlfriends – they edge up any outfit, and they are super comfortable.

Comfortable Sandals: Slides

Kīpe‘a Pono (Size 7)

Kīpe‘a Pono (Size 7)

Kīpe‘a Pono (Size 7)

These are the shoes you put by the door that you always go to throw on whenever you run an errand, need to run to your car, or walk the dog around the block. But they are also beach-friendly, great pool sandals, and since they read as leather, they look great with dresses, too. They are incredibly soft and comfortable. It’s the leather/rubber combo that makes these so good. The footbed is squishy and yet supportive, lightweight but still non-slip on the bottom. I’m not crazy about the inside floral footbed design, but I like the texture on the leather strap.

By Anthropologie Slide Sandal (Size 7)

These are fantastic for all dresses or dressier outfits, but you still want to be comfortable.

The soft color and suede go with everything. I also really like the square toe. I wish that they had more arch support, but I’m still so tempted to keep them because they are so elevated. I will say that I’m nervous the suede isn’t going to hold up in Oregon in the rain, but in dryer climates, I think they are extremely versatile.

Rothy’s The Weekend Slide Sandals (Size 7)

Another pair that I couldn’t believe were so comfortable…Rothy’s know how to do it, folks.

These are extremely stretchy and comfortable, especially the elastic straps. I see now why Rothy’s are such a thing (and I want more). I love the black and beige pattern that would look great with darker dresses or outfits. Bonus for covering my bunion! Viral for a reason, which I now understand.

Collin Sandals (Size 7)

For how inexpensive these sandals are, they are quite cute and versatile. Fantastic texture and great details.

Collin Sandals (Size 7)

Collin Sandals (Size 7)

These are Birk-like, woven sandals that have a pretty cushy footbed and are wide enough to slip in and out of easily. They’re definitely comfortable. The underside of the straps is a little rougher (unlike the Rothy’s or the Olukais), but not bad. These are 10/10 considering the price, and they’re very versatile stylistically, could definitely dress up or down! But 10+ hours of comfort, I can’t guarantee.

Comfortable Sandals: Flip Flops

Mallorca Flip Flop Sandal (Size 7)

Mallorca Flip Flop Sandal (Size 7)

Considering these have more structure and at least an inch-and-a-half platform, the footbed is cushiony and does compress down. They are stiff and don’t move or mold with your feet, but they’re legit pretty comfortable. These would be way easier to dress up for nighttime hangs than some of the others.

Southshore Flip Flop (Size 7)

Incredibly supportive flip-flops for those who want all-day wear comfort.

Southshore Flip Flop (Size 7)

I’m horrified that I put my bunion on the internet, but here we are. I hope some of you feel seen and less alone, living this bunion lifestyle. And no, it doesn’t bother me at all, besides visually 🙂

Southshore Flip Flop (Size 7)

These are so bendy and supportive. These are everyday, all-day, flip flops perfect for long beach vacations and cruising around town. They have an arch support and a very soft leather feel. They do have a bit of a surfer vibe, like they’re not what you would pair with a dress to go out at night, but otherwise, they go with almost everything.

Comfortable Sandals: Mules/Flats

Bibi Lous Netted Jelly Mules (Size 7)

Bibi Lous Netted Jelly Mules (Size 7)

I’m genuinely surprised at how many different outfits I can make these jellies work with. They add a hint of texture and pattern to any outfit, but not in a loud way, so they’re easy to throw on and make any outfit look a little bit more trendy and cooler. Awesome for the beach, but I’ve also just been wearing them around town with dresses or baggy pants. They have about a quarter-inch cork foot bed that adds enough support to make them VERY comfortable for how flat they are. Extremely flexible and bendy, I wouldn’t say you could walk around town for ten hours in them, but for flat vacation shoes, they’re definitely extremely comfortable.

Matisse Marta Mesh Ballet Flats (Size 7)

Matisse Marta Mesh Ballet Flats (Size 7)

I was super excited about these, and I think they are cool, but I think they are going to get destroyed pretty quickly, being cotton. If you have a fun vacation that you are planning for and want to curate outfits, I think these are trendy and comfortable enough, but being white and cotton, they aren’t going to last long up here.

Birkenstock Boston EVA Sandals (Size 7)

I LOVE THESE. Move over Crocs.

Birkenstock Boston EVA Sandals (Size 7)

Birkenstock Boston EVA Sandals (Size 7)

These clogs are CUTE, weigh NOTHING and are still so comfortable. I throw on Charlie’s Crocs all the time at the farm, but now I’m gonna throw on these. They’re made of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), so they’re super flexible, wipeable, and very easy on the feet. They are extremely lightweight and feel like nothing’s even there. And the blue adds a nice pop of color to any outfit.

Comfortable Sandals: Tried And True

DAYSPRING Ankle Strap Women’s Platform Sandal, (Size 7)

These are my Sorels from two summers ago that I still wear when I want a bit of a heel, but I know I’m going to walk around for a while. For platform sandals, they are extremely comfortable, cushy, and pretty much go with anything.

DAYSPRING Ankle Strap Women’s Platform Sandal, (Size 7)

They are still chunky shoes, but they don’t weigh that much, so still easy to pop on.

Cordani Karson Slide Sandals

Cordani Karson Slide Sandals

I LOVE how these look, and I still do opt for them, but they are not walking shoes. They are comfortable when you are standing because they have a really soft footbed, and the straps are comfortable, but they are super rigid and inflexible, so walking is kind of annoying. Again, I still wear them on date nights or if I want to feel cute in the summer, but not if I’m going to be walking around too much.

Teva Universal Sandal (similar)

Teva Universal Sandal (similar)

I’ve been wearing these Tevas for a few years now, and I bring them on all our more active trips with the kids. They really do feel like wearing sneakers, so I can hike for hours in them and then walk through rivers/streams, etc.

KEEN Newport H2 Sandals

KEEN Newport H2 Sandals

It was high time that I owned a pair of Keens – a staple for any self-respecting Oregonian. I got these specifically for all our waterfall hikes that we go on in the spring/summer. These are fantastic to hike in, super lightweight, and then they dry super fast, so you wear them in the water (which can often be super rocky or slimy/slippery). I got a pair for each person in the family (Elliot wanted us to match, which is why I got the light pink – that girl is impossible to say no to).

Birkenstock Milano Big Buckle Sandal

Birkenstock Milano Big Buckle Sandal

I threw in my Arizona Berks because they are such a classic that they really do work with all outfits. I wear these a lot, but never for long walks. I don’t find them nearly as comfortable as the rest of the world, but I obviously still really like them, and they work with almost any casual outfit.

I have some clear favorites – the burgundy jellies, the blue clogs, the leopard strappys, the all-day flip-flops, the Hawaiian slides, the Rothys fisherman sandals, and the Rothy’s slides. I still love the Sorel platforms, too, and if you want some classic, normal flip-flops, I always love my slim Havianas.
