9 Easy, Comfortable, And Cute Transitional Spring Outfits I Love

It’s show and tell on my body, in the name of ending my hibernation and leaving the house looking like a real woman who has her life together (but mostly wants to be comfortable). I’m sorry for all of you who have high-powered corporate jobs or people who go to glamorous parties, I swear I give you no fashion inspiration – but if you like to dress casually, practically, and be comfy, then I’ve got you covered with these spring outfits (Wait, did you see the sweaters from last week?? Check those out too). We aren’t in full spring mode, so these aren’t like wildly floral or summery, yet. But most feel appropriately transitional for this in-between season to throw a jacket over (or for a lot of lounging).

These pants look boring, but I’ve worn them 6 times since I bought them (2 weeks ago). They are so lightweight and comfy and easy to wear with a stripe or denim shirt, and while I haven’t washed them yet (don’t judge), they feel high-quality enough that they aren’t going to be a wrinkled mess out of the dryer. They sit a bit lower (not high-rise), aren’t tight, don’t cut in, look good with blue… all the things I want in a pant. The alternating striped sweatshirt is solid, looks fantastic with athleisure, or just as a solid basic. It’s boxy and wide, so size down unless you want super oversized. Oh, and those shoes ran small and tight (and I didn’t love the tone with my skin), so I ended up returning them. Get these instead – they are extremely cute, more versatile, and have cushioning, so a 10/10 in comfort (I’m wearing them below in the black/white sweater shot).

Here I wore the same pants but styled them more casually. I bought that T-shirt in three colorways, FYI. It’s perfect for those of us who don’t want a super tight t-shirt, but like a nice thin drape and cut that is easy to 1/2 tuck. It’s casual and kinda perfect. I’m also obsessed with those burgundy jellies and can’t believe that the Row’s versions are $600. hahaha…for plastic sandals…The beaded choker is from H&M, and I bought it in three colors, but one already broke, so you get what you pay for.

I’m pleased to tell you that I searched and found a fantastic knock-off of The Great’s famous sweatsuit. The Great nailed the 70s vintage, flattering, worn-colored sweatsuit that is oddly flattering (they are designed by moms and tried on real bodies). And while I rarely want to support any obvious rip-offs, these are less about stealing a design or art and more just another company finally dialing in that 70s athletic vibe that The Great was also going for.

Finding the right size was so tricky (and no local Gaps here, so I had to order on the internet three different times). The sweatshirt is super oversized, so I’m wearing an XXS (but the XS fits almost the same). The small was also good since it’s a bit cropped, BTW, but I sized down. For the pants, I ended up keeping the XS and the XS petite, which is my favorite. Now, what I had to do (which is annoying) is cut the elastic inside the waistband because it was FAR too tight and cut in. The drawstring works just fine, but be warned that they likely didn’t test these on real people, and the elastic is simply too strong to be comfortable. So I had to hack it. Otherwise, they are PERFECT (and I don’t think this bothers other people as much, I think I have some sensory issues and can just really feel tightness, and it becomes unbearable). That washed navy/almost black is so good, and I loved the petite size length that hit right above my ankle, so it looks a bit shrunken in a good way. Socks are from H&M and are excellent and cheap. Also, shout out to matching my dog’s hair color, lol. Should I bring a picture of her for inspo to my next appointment??

Top | PJ Pants | Slippers

How cute are these pajama pants??!! I bought these for our team retreat, hoping to really impress my crew with my nighttime fit. I’m wearing a small one, and it doesn’t cut in at all. They have these cute pleats that make it really voluminous. Can you wear them outside the house? For sure, with a white menswear button down, maybe or even my navy zipper hoody.

The olive Henley is a sweatshirt, easy to tuck, comes in cream, and has nice detailing. I’m wearing an XS, and it’s GREAT (note that I’m doing the Olsen hair tuck thing that I guess is back??!!).

Jacket | Blouse | Jeans | Shoes

These are those awesome Mother jeans that I can’t stop talking about or wearing, paired with a silky blouse in a great colored stripe (burgundy and rose) and a really affordable brown 1/2 trench.

Jacket | Blouse | Jeans | Shoes

The shirt drapes really well, so it would look great under a crewneck sweater or cardigan. Those mules are mule-ing!!

Now, again, I’m not into the idea of knockoffs, but this dress is so good for $70 and sure looks like Ulla Johnson and Doen had a baby. It comes with a blue slip underneath and drapes and falls really well. It’s PERFECT for spring, church, weddings, summer, and vacation. Dress her up or down. Heels or sandals.

I hope they make it in more colors. You could even tie a sweater around your waist and shoulder, add a shell necklace, throw on some flip flops (I’m literally now just naming things you can do…).

Scarf | Blouse | Jeans | Shoes

I’m excited to pull out these cream barrels. I sized down in these and always feel good in them. The top is the same as my balloon blouse I bought in the fall, but in a dark navy and cream stripe (and a stiffer material). I love how those jellies can just look like shoes, not beach sandals.

I splurged on this top by Farm Rio, which is a thing I tend to do before spring break. They just nail the colors, patterns, and whatever cotton they use always holds up wash after wash without looking wrinkled. Super lightweight but long sleeve, so it’s perfect for vacation dinners.

Burgundy Necklace | Top | Sweatshirt | Shorts | Shoes

Admittedly, this is NOT a good outfit. But it was the end of the day, and I really wanted to show you all of these elements, just not together. The mules are LL Bean for Free People, and they are absolutely heavenly to wear. So comfy, they look so cute with socks. Giving Birkenstock but WAYYYYYY more comfortable (I think I’m the only person who doesn’t find Birks comfy). The shorts are awesome, but size down (these are too big on me) with great paint splatter and holes that will likely inspire your father-in-law to ask if you need to borrow money to buy real clothes (every time!). Jess has these, too, and wore them in Palm Springs in a non-splattered option.

Burgundy Necklace | Top | Sweatshirt | Shorts | Shoes

Again, the same Gap zippy I was wearing earlier (also super cute under jackets, BTW, with hood sticking out) and the striped shirt is the same as the black/white one, but in brown and cream. All solid staples, and it’s not the worst outfit ever, but feels a bit rugged, shall we say:)

Hope these outfits got you excited for getting out of the house (or staying home in style), and gave you some helpful inspo. xx
