Isn’t it one of the sweet pleasures in life to look at a piece of furniture or decor and think, “Ugh, I’m sure that costs more than I can afford,” only to find out IT IS within your budget?? Maybe even affordable? That’s what we are going to be exploring today. We did a fashion version of this a few years ago, and understandably, it was a big hit. So, since we are an interior design site, first and foremost, it was high time we did it with affordable furniture and decor. Naturally, we went to one of our favorite retailers that is known for its incredible deals and quality, Wayfair, to show you great pieces that your guests will think cost you an arm and a leg (but in fact, all of your beautiful limbs will still be firmly attached to your body:)). Ok, I’m excited. Let’s get to the first piece…
Retro-Style Solid Wood Leisure Chair – $490
I’m starting out very strong if I do say so myself. No surprise, I love love the circle cut-outs, the vintage vibe, the floppy arms, and how comfortable it looks. The even better news is that all of the reviews confirm that it’s comfortable. But speaking to the premise of this post, if this chair were sold at most of the other major retailers, it would easily go for twice as much. It’s cool, chic, unique, and doesn’t sacrifice comfort – so it’s perfect. It also comes in a brown leather:)
Mid-Century Modern Lounge Chair – $325
Now this is another stunning statement chair for a “non-statement chair” price. It comes in solids as well, but I LOVE a cabana stripe when done right. Actually, when I first saw this chair, I immediately thought of this photo from Orlagh McCloskey’s London home, see below:
This image has not left my brain since the moment I saw it 2-3 years ago. I love all of the elements together, but that boldly striped chair has my heart. This wonderfully joyful chair from Wayfair really captures that essence and would look INCREDIBLE in the right space.
Wooden Upholstered Barstool (Set of 2) – $340 | Scandinavian Barstool (Set of 2) – $174
Dining chairs and stools are expensive, especially since you need more than one. So when I saw these two options, I perked up! I know Emily is a big backrest proponent when it comes to barstools, but those seat cushions look very comfortable. Style-wise, I love how the wood curves around the seat. The design overall looks very considered, and for that price, I am in. The other all-wood set is very much a “simple but special” look. Oh, and individually priced, they are under $100 each. You might want to consider getting a cute little cushion if these are meant to be sat on for long periods of time, but otherwise, the style is very good.
Solid Wood Modern Farmhouse Coffee Table – $230
I’m sorry, please look at how the bottom shelf wraps around the legs in such a custom-looking way. This coffee table could work with so many different styles. It’s organic and modern and not too much of either, if that makes sense. I love it. It’s actually kind of funny because I was trying to figure out a similar shelf design for my bathroom vanity:) Again, I could see this piece easily going for double the price.
Handcrafted Burl Wood Coffee Table – $286
Oh, hello, vintage-looking coffee table. Burlwood is just one of those materials that will be cool and beautiful forever. And this piece is simple but modern, and I love the checkerboard detail. But if we are just talking looks, this baby is effortlessly versatile and has the perfect amount of visual weight and texture. It also comes in a lighter and darker wood option!
Travertine Texture Coffee Table – $280
Here’s the last coffee table for this post, but it’s another good one. That mix of materials is chef’s kiss. It’s the perfect table to add some shape and texture, but in a quiet way that will make your eye so happy. I mean, this could easily work with a brightly colored velvet sofa (how good would it be with The Oscar??) or perfect in a really neutral, minimal home. It’s got range, baby!
Modern TV Stand Storage Credenza – $570
If your first thought looking at this credenza/media cabinet was, “Oh, that’s really beautiful,” me too. I love the low profile, the grain of the wood, and its overall simplicity. Plus, did you read Arlyn’s design mistake post about media cabinets??? This one is wide, so for those who need a great-looking, long credenza, this one is perfect for you (and looks really expensive). Also, I know it’s over $500, but it’s the only one, I promise.
TV Stand With Drawers – $170
This one isn’t as wide as the previous one, but tell me that doesn’t look like a piece straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog?? And yes, that price is correct! This beaut is under $200. Also, in case you missed the product name, those are drawers, not cabinet doors. I actually really love that! Perfect for cozy blankets, toys, etc.
Floor Lamp With Cone-Shaped Shade – $113 | Traditional Floor Lamp – $110
I love lamp! And if I had the space, I would happily put both of these in my home. And my lord, they are so affordable, but look expensive. If you love modern design, these are perfect. If you love traditional design, these will add freshness. If you have eclectic design, these will work too!
Tavaner Vickery Metal Table Lamp – $99
Ha, you didn’t think I’d only include two lamps, did you? Of course not. I get giddy looking at this one. The color is bold but not too much since the base is very slender. The shade is SO chic and cool that your space will feel instantly transported to a modern Milan home. So yes, I think this lamp looks far more expensive than it is:)
Wicker Table Lamp – $123
I love wicker, and I love an oversized lamp! This one checks both of those boxes. This cutie is 27.5″ tall! It’s a cool way to have a more traditional piece feel modern. Playing with scale does that in such a fun way.
Rumford Nightstand – $64 | Traditional Solid Wood Nightstand – $270
Ok, so I know I’ve recommended the first nightstand a couple of times, but that’s because I think it couldn’t be cuter, and the price is unreal! It looks SO much more expensive than it is, it’s wild. Now, the second is pricier, but man, is it beautiful. The wood grain is stunning (plus it’s solid wood), I love the trim detail, it’s got that cute little pull-out shelf, and THREE drawers. Then, on top of all of that, it’s got built-in outlets in the back. It’s really got it all, AND it’s under $300. In this market, that’s very, VERY good.
Orson Mid-Century Modern Platform Bed With Upholstered Headboard – $430
This bed just looks special, doesn’t it? The woven cane and wingback style is already so pretty. But then you add on that green upholstered headboard accent, and it really becomes a showstopper.
Eco-friendly Bamboo Platform Carved Bed – $256 | Makaelyn Metal Bed – $240
Two beds under $300?? Yep:) Spindle beds, regardless of style, are always a classic. I think both of these are so pretty and would make a bedroom really sing.
Modern Solid Wood Dresser – $410
A Midcentury Modern classic shape with VERY cute knobs. Plus, six drawers are a great amount of storage! Oh, and not to mention that this piece is also solid wood. You can use this one forever and not spend an arm and a leg.
Hingham 5 Drawer Dresser – $180
Isn’t this dresser so pretty?? It really feels like a modern classic and can work with so many styles. Just a touch of a contemporary vibe and perfect to grow with. Plus, that wood tone is stunning, and don’t worry, those legs are solid wood! All that for UNDER $200. Too good.
36″ Single Bathroom Vanity – $390
Wayfair has so many great bathroom vanities, so this one and the next are a very small sampling. What I love about this one (aside from the price) is the amount of storage and counterspace. It’s a perfect traditional style that’s really pretty. It also comes in green and white!
36” Bathroom Vanity – $380
This one, too, is elegant! I love the look of all of those drawers, but it’s secretly two drawers and two cabinets. This vanity really looks expensive, but again, it is under $400, which is great. To me, you can’t lose with this one. I mean, how cute are those knobs?! It comes in white too:)
Ok, that’s it for today. I hope this gave you hope (or was a reminder) that there really is great (and expensive-looking) affordable furniture all over, and especially on Wayfair. So if you are decorating, make sure to take a look.
Love you, mean it.

I love how you described the vintage vibe of this chair—it really stands out. We’ve been exploring similar home decor ideas recently, especially around modern cushion patterns and textures, and it’s interesting to see how these styles are evolving.
Please do more of these! Maybe a recurring feature? Or some specific ones for lamps, lighting, decor. Love these!!!
