The Link Up: The Membership Emily Didn’t Know Was So Awesome, Mal’s Extremely Cute Fall Top, And A Great Tote Bag Org Hack

Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope your final days of summer have been good. We’ve just been working away at our projects and shoots, which we are so excited to show you. But for now, let’s talk links:)

This week’s house tour is a very cool and fresh climate-neutral new build. It feels both cozy and modern, and we love the color palette. Check it out!

From Emily: Did you know anyone over age 18 can sign up for AARP’s member benefits? I didn’t, but now I do! You might be familiar with all the perks (discounts on dining, travel, insurance, and more), but there are a few compelling benefits I didn’t know about, like 25-30% savings on flower deliveries from FTD flowers (a total steal for those of us who love a little life in our home)! The AARP membership is unbelievably affordable, and your savings can add up fast – definitely something to consider as we head into that busy time of year 🙂

From Mallory: I found my perfect summer-to-fall transition top!! This button-up shirt makes me feel so cute – it’s got an awesome silhouette with the big puff sleeves and the high neck. It immediately elevates any outfit, and I find that it looks good with so many different bottoms – skirts, denim shorts, white pants – everything. I’ve been wearing it all the time, and I’m extremely happy with this cute fall top purchase!

From Marlee: I popped into IKEA this weekend to shop for a dining table and, of course, left with a handful of smalls that I probably didn’t need but have already found happy homes throughout my house:) This little tray looks so cute on our counter with salt, pepper, oil, etc., and these little magnetic clips are adorable for hanging postcards on the fridge. I always love picking up a pack of paper napkins for gatherings when we go, and I’m already wishing I stocked up on more than one pack of these striped ones. And yes, we did find a dining table! We have a super awkwardly sized dining nook – it’s just 2 of us, so on most days we just need the 1-seater built-in bench that’s already there and one chair. But we want the option to have more table space and additional seating for guests, so we picked up this extendable table that perfectly matches our small run of butcher block countertops on one side of the kitchen. It was so easy to assemble:)

From Arlyn: We all have those things we buy without putting much thought into (maybe it’s just an add-on to something else you purchased, for instance, as is the case here) that end up being something you touch and use every single day. That’s the story with these canvas zipper pouches from Lands’ End. I picked up two last year to throw in my totes and larger purchases, and since then, I’ve found so many uses for them. I use one for all the stuff I wish I had when I am out with my kid, like her sunscreen, bug spray, and anti-itch cream for when the bug spray fails. Another holds snacks for when I’m out and about. Another has toiletries. I use them for EVERYTHING, and they’re on sale right now. I’m telling you, buy multiples. You won’t regret it.

From Gretchen: If you’re looking for a few finishing touches for your living room, don’t sleep on World Market! We recently shot a fun living room reveal (coming soon), and Em showed up to the shoot with a few pieces I just can’t get my mind off of. First off, this table lamp is so cute, short & sweet, and the amber glass really adds to its warm glow. It was the perfect layering piece for a cute tabletop vignette! And then this pouf! We didn’t end up using it in the room, but I might need to take it home with me instead… It’s a really great size for a pouf–more like an ottoman–and such a cute pattern and color.

From Jess: I think I’m in love with puzzles and have been doing this one right now! The quality is awesome; it’s definitely challenging, and obviously it’s nice to have an indoor activity like this that doesn’t really allow you time to be on or pay attention to a screen.

From Caitlin: Reporting live from my closet, where I have officially fallen prey to the beaded necklace trend. I finally caved and bought this little number last week and have been SHOCKED to find that it works with literally everything I own. Every necklace stack!  Every top! Every outfit, as a whole! I love that I could customize the length and metal finish; I think the price was more than fair, and I’m so pleased to have been able to support a small business. I highly recommend the maker for any beaded jewelry needs! (On a different note – because I have no self -control, I also grabbed this $18 Zodiac necklace from the 70s. I got the last Libra pendant, but the seller still has every other sign available. IT IS SO GOOD – bitsy and easy to layer. Someone take Etsy away from me!!!)

It was great spending some time with you today! See ya tomorrow xx
