With 14 days of sun in a row, averaging 74 degrees, Christmas in the form of summer has come early to the Pacific Northwest, and BBQ season is in full swing already. We have a few end-of-year parties planned, including a belated Mother’s Day/Dad’s birthday family gathering this Sunday, and I’m happy to say that I’ve finally really dialed in my group entertaining prep protocol. I’m going to write a whole post about how I do it in a way where I still totally have fun, but today I want to show you a few updates we made and highlight a lot of good outdoor entertaining pieces that are on the Wayfair Memorial Day Clearance (and will arrive fast).

I’m learning quickly that teak is the only wood species that can survive the rain without needing to be pulled inside or covered, so I ordered this coffee table that will eventually gray out to match our sectional and chaise lounge chairs.

We’ve had the teak sectional for a few years, and it has grayed out nicely (which is typical of teak), and I stole that wicker resin chair from my brother because the two non-teak wood chairs are in less good shape after being left out in the rain two winters in a row (thus my search for furniture I can leave out in the PNW).

This table is extremely sturdy and well-made, and really completes this vignette. Now there are other species that can last outside, of course, they just tend to need to be covered or under an overhang, but teak is the one that can last (especially if you keep it oiled). Here are a few other favorites that are on sale (that will arrive quickly).

I also just bought two more outdoor rechargeable/solar lamps (no more candles, folks). The leather lantern next to the chair is solar powered and creates the prettiest pattern on the floor. Fantastic ambience (would be great for stairs). The wicker lamps are super heavy and come in sets of two. They are on the splurgier side, so would be great to snag on sale, but we’ve rounded up others that are also great and on sale.

My chaise lounge chairs are from Neighbor, which Wayfair also sells, and I love them. I bring in the cushions (of all furniture) into the garage for the winter, and likely need to oil the teak, but they are fantastic.

These are our floater chairs – they move around based on where we are entertaining. Hot tip: Resin wicker seems to be fairly indestructible for those of us wanting long-lasting outdoor furniture that doesn’t require moving inside or covering. I often leave them on the grass since they aren’t solid, so they don’t leave marks.

These are lightweight and easy to move, and have faired so well outside. They still look brand new (we retired the cushions that came with them).

We’ve had this bar cart for a few years from Wayfair (left outside most of the time, which is not ideal), and it’s still in great shape. We use it for kids’ drinks when we have larger gatherings, and it functions perfectly. We fill the big drink dispenser with water for all, then the pitchers usually have Crystal Light or pink lemonade. P.S. I put the drink dispenser on a plant stand to lift it and make it easier to put a glass underneath it 🙂

The kids can serve themselves, use the acrylic glasses (wine + water) that look nice (but won’t break), and no one has to ask me for water 🙂

Thank you for all of the great content lately. I’m really loving it and check every morning, after all these years! So much inspiration.
I could really use some recs for toddler outdoor stuff that’s smaller than a full play structure set. Anyone get a good mud kitchen or similar on Wayfair recently?
I would love to know where I can buy the throw pillows on the sectional?
Some are Max Pindler x Sunbrella fabrics. See this post stylebyemilyhenderson.com/outdoor-living-room-firepit-area-ideas
Thank you!
Beautiful! Looking forward to more entertaining posts. Curious, where did you purchase the green drink dispenser?
Target! It’s the Stanley 2Gal Adventure Fast Flow Water Jug
Hopefully this will resolve on its own, but in case you need to do something on your end, the affiliate website won’t resolve to the Wayfair website (tried on both Chrome and Firefox).
Ooh any good outdoor side tables? I feel like these are so pricey for such underwhelming options and I would love to see wayfair picks.
As an aside, I have noticed lately when I click to look at links on mobile I can’t get back to the article easily.
I’m wondering, what is the name of those climbing vines behind the sofa? I am in need of some climbing vines, and the ones behind the sofa are look great!
Fun, inspiring post! Got me excited for summer entertaining. I highly recommend World Market for resin wicker furniture. Lots of choices in neutrals and fun colors. Prices are very reasonable and sales are frequent. Our black loveseat and chairs and teal side table look great after 4 Midwestern summers and winters on the deck. My only caution is that they are lightweight and can “travel” in strong winds. But our composite deck is something of a wind tunnel and can be a bit slick so your experience may be different.
