Happy Father’s Day and Happy Belated Juneteenth! Hope everyone is having a great weekend (or the best they can<3). We are all pretty excited that tomorrow, the whole EHD team will be together in Portland on another wonderful retreat! It’ll be a real work hard, play hard situation:) So while we pack, here are this week’s links.
This week’s house tour is what we would call elevated, moody Western, and boy, is it cool. Model Chanel Iman and football player Davon Godchaux bought the most incredible ranch and made it their own. Check it out!
From Emily: I am not a handbag person (it’s not a bad thing to be one; I have other shopping addictions, I promise). So I tend to buy one and use it until it is absolutely falling apart. While I love Clare V. for style, functionally, I like something a lot heartier and more durable (remember when I wore this Parker Clay bag for like 4 years with a longer strap?). I haven’t had a good everyday leather bag for a while, and I bought this green one from Quince after having the blue suede belt bag, which is incredible quality. The green suede is so soft, it’s big enough for stuff + my laptop, it has a flat bottom (so it sits easily on the ground should you need it to) and is structured without being too heavy (that was my only beef with Parker Clay, the leather itself is on the heavier side). It zips close (which I prefer, especially for flights where I shove it under the chair) and has an inner zipper pocket as well. It’s not super cheap, but its high quality leather, so it shouldn’t be. And the color is just so pretty – it’s a soft sage with blue undertones (like my dining chairs).
From Arlyn: One thing I didn’t realize before we moved to North Carolina was how different the tap water would be. Where we are, it’s quite high in PFAS (it tends to be when you’re close to an airport or golf courses, and we check both those boxes), so I immediately started researching how to best filter out water as renters. When we become homeowners, we’ll look into whole-home filtration, but for now, it’s about filtered water where we can control it, like our fridge dispenser and under our kitchen sink. I’m working on shower and bath filters, as well, but for now, we decided on the Clearly Filtered In-Line Fridge filter because it was super easy to install and lives behind our fridge, where no one can see it. We didn’t have to cut any lines, and it’s fully removable when we leave here. For our sink, I opted for a smaller filter from Hydroviv, and I thought it was cool that they custom-make the filter based on your ZIP code and what contaminants live in your local water supply. I haven’t tested the water, as I’m just going off the faith that what I spent my money on is removing what I don’t want my family ingesting, but at the very least, it tastes great!
From Mallory: I’ve forayed into the world of clothing rentals and was STOKED when I saw Em’s Good American bandana shorts available to rent on FashionPass. So I added them to cart, and I’m thrilled to say: THEY’RE GREAT. Very comfy but still cute and chic. Em said this, but I can confirm that the fabric is very silky smooth, so they feel a little fancier than your everyday shorts! Plus, I love the tassel tie. I also found them for 30% off, so if you were contemplating getting them, I would say now is a great time!
From: Marlee: If you’re looking for a lightweight summer layer, I have 3 of these jackets from Uniqlo in nearly every color (technically I have 2 in the S, and my boyfriend has one in the M that I wear just as often). I just love the fit of them so much, and they work with truly every outfit. Of course, you can layer under it the rest of the year, but I’ve been really loving it for summer evenings. It has a really nice structure to it and a good boxy fit. They’re so easy to throw on and go. And while you’re over there, I also love this lightweight linen top from them. I have it in black and white – the white is not see-through, which is nice! It looks more shiny/structured at first, but it washed so nicely and feels really high quality, soft, and worn. I sized up to a medium for a less cropped look.
From Gretchen: I was out camping last weekend near Bend, OR, and whenever I’m in town, I always make a point to stop and say hello to my parents, but I also make a pit stop at Walmart. I hate that I love that place, but so often I stumble upon really great pieces there and just hate to miss out on what’s new. I popped in to grab a few camping essentials, which meant I needed to pass by the outdoor section, so I just had to stop and look at pots and planters (Wally and I have a very “if you give a mouse a cookie” kind of relationship). I was totally blown away by their selection! This wicker one was on display and was SO cute and big enough for a sizable plant. They had a slightly smaller version too–wicker, footed and with a cute scallop edge. And this large ceramic pot had such a great texture, pattern, and glaze. They had a bunch of really cute tabletop pots too!
From Jess: While eating lunch at the insanely delicious Din Tai Fung in Glendale last weekend, I was sitting at the bar eating next to a woman who was about to order dessert. I gently offered my recommendation of the chocolate dumplings WITH a side of the whipped cream (that tip is all thanks to our girl about town, Mallory Wackerman!). As she was about to leave, she thanked me for the wonderful recommendation (is there a better feeling?). I then noticed her cute flats and asked where they were from. Her eyes lit up, and she said they were from Viviana and truly THE MOST comfortable walking shoes she’s ever owned. Music to my soon-to-be Europe-bound ears! I ended up grabbing a similar but different pair and can’t wait for them to arrive. So not only did we both get some hot recs that day, but it is just so wonderful when you have those nice connected moments with a stranger:) So my other tip is to talk to a stranger because it’s good and fun!
From Caitlin: Last Sunday, I flew back from a 17-day Ireland/Northern Ireland excursion with Dennis and 12 members (!!!) of his family. We had an incredible time (our cab tour in Belfast was a highlight, as was Den making the news in Enniskillen – albeit under his new pseudonym, “David”), but you just KNOW I brought home a few souvenirs! I grabbed an antique anthropomorphic terra cotta vessel from the best little shop in Dublin, Den and I picked up a sweet painting by Marjorie Bloch (our first art purchase together – gallery couldn’t have been nicer!), but my biggest splurge was on this 100% wool blanket from Magee Weaving that is DIVINE. I’ve been loving the comfortable size (about 56″x78″), the not-too-hot, not-too-cold weight, the rich texture, and that it walks the line between being neutral and colorful (especially from a distance – she’s quieter than she looks!). If you’re also a “fewer, better” or “buy once, cry once” shopper, you’ve gotta check out this small Irish business – I was lucky enough to visit them in the flesh in Donegal and am so proud to have brought home one of their heirloom-quality pieces. They really don’t make them like this anymore!!!
Have a wonderful day and see y’all tomorrow for another fun update! xx

Note that the flats Jess recommends are from Vivaia– probably an auto-correct error. Thanks for the recs!
Caitlin please do a write up of your Ireland trip! Cx
