Lot's of new stuff, folks. And be prepared for even more soon. There are two 'Emilys'. The one that hoards things and the one that purges things. I'm in SEVERE purging mode with boxes and boxes of stuff being sent over to the studio right now. I'm suffering from severe clutter body, and I'm basically getting rid of 50% of what I own. Many things for the flea, yes, but many for a large studio garage sale that is coming up (more info soon, but mark your calendars for September 19th). I promise you that YOU (and all my friends/family/assistants) will LOVE 'Purging Emily' far more than 'Hoarding Emily'. When I want stuff gone, I want it gone. Again, more info later. I'm just too excited about the amount of stuff that I soon won't have to not talk about it.
Meanwhile The Flea needs some serious replenishing. I had no idea how successful it would be. So we are adding all of these things on Monday (sorry, prices aren't up yet) and then I need to plan a few shopping days soon to really stock up and make it full again. My goal of manipulating my career to be able to thrift shop all day is finally happening.
I am curious though what you guys want the most on The Flea? The small furniture doesn't seem to be selling (so it's going up for sale at the studio sale), but everything else is going. The art seems to be the #1 thing probably because original artwork is just so difficult to find and I have a lot of it. So I'll definitely keep that going, but as I'm shopping if you guys have any more requests (lighting? Quirky accessories? Pillows?) let me know. Speaking of pillows, I have a ton of vintage fabric that I've been debating just getting made into pillows for a while so maybe I'll try that and see how it goes. Lots of cozy vintage plaids, florals and of course indigos.
Let me know your thoughts. And Happy Labor Day.
P.S. For all of those of you who pre-ordered the book yesterday, THANK YOU. It jumped me into #1 bestselling in four different categories on Amazon which changes daily but that still makes me feel really good.
So excited!
I love the quirky accessories…the bigger, the better!
Thanks Emily for all you do!
Also, this may be a crazy long shot, but I wonder if you would consider adding a service of question for person styling, not just home styling? You are killing it with the ensembles. I always thought hiring a personal stylist was a ridiculous idea….but I would throw down some money for your help!
Lastly…if course ordered my book!
Where do you even find this stuff? Everything is so awesome!!
Indigos! Yes please!
Quirky accessories for sure!!!
Love the arrows!!! I think I want them!
Any idea when these items might be listed on The Flea? Must get my alarm clock ready…
Love all your finds! One thing that would make shopping a lot better on the Flea is to include a image where the piece has been used within the styling. Thanks!
I was going to say the same thing. It seems like the things that go fast are the ones that we’ve seen styled by you. It’d help to have that visual to see how some of these things could be used in real life.
you purge, we win!
yes, the art i’m seeing is smokin’! i do have my eye on the 60’s reception pen? but can’t track it down at the shop? sad. oh well . . fun shop to scroll through!
Mmmmm. Going to thrift stores and flea markets and then sell what you find? Sounds too good to be true. Can I have that job?
Good luck.
Love the quirky stuff! Will it be possible to ship your finds outside of the US one day? Someone in Belgium would like to order!
My biggest request for The Flea is that the update happens at 9:00 am West Coast time instead of east coast time. Everything is always sold out by the time I can get to the computer. Please, please, please!
Agreed! PST would be super helpful for those of us who are also living the California dream. :)
Arrows- give me all the arrows!!!! I’d love to see pillows in the flea. And vintage textiles.
would love to see more ottomans/benches, esp anything in the lovely velvet fabrics you often use with reupholstered pieces; LOVE when you style w/ indigos/blues/aquas and any of those accessories would be top…. I agree w/ the other comments about “styling history or tips” for any of the pieces…. such as, I like the dreamcatchers but would have no idea how to ‘style’ this in a room (gallery wall? hanging on a hook or something? no idea!)
oh! also any-size white planters with faces! I am obsessed w/ the one you styled in Bri Emery’s LR a few years ago, and have never been able to find anything like it….
Yes! Yes!
Spent too much tie in the internet searching for that one’s twin.
Emily,
I vote for making the vintage fabric into pillows. I had this idea that it might be kind of great to get 3 or 5 pillows of fabric that you think coordinate and can be purchased in a set. I have a terrible time picking sets of different pillows. Just a thought!
I love the stuff you have! My only wish would be that you would also post some things that are affordable for people like me who are on a tight budget. Granted, I do not live anywhere near CA, but I would never pay these prices if I were at an actual flea market. Maybe I have the wrong impression, but when it says The Flea, and you talk about thrift store shopping, to me I would think that would be affordable stuff, after all, that is why I shop at those places! The things you have are totally awesome, so maybe I am the only person who thinks the prices are really steep? I certainly don’t mean to offend, becasue I love you!

The art is definitely awesome! I would also love to see more planters and rugs. Thanks for doing the legwork for us!
I’m loving the bamboo tray and pink ceramic planter. Cute selection!
I LOVE the wooden lamps!
Can’t wait for Monday! Okay, I WILL wait for Monday to check out the new items! I’m not against furniture, either–just haven’t needed any at the moment.
Original paintings on The Flea for sure. But also pottery.
What about doing removable covers for throw pillows instead of pillows? They would be much easier to ship and people could just add their own inserts as long as they were standard sizes. I like the idea of being able to change up the look of my throw pillows without having to store actual pillows.
Love this idea!
Yeah, so it’s 6:07 am on Monday (California time) and I’ve been furiously hitting the refresh button…still no updates.
Me too. :(
Maybe she meant Tuesday.
Me too!! Wondering when it’ll be live…?
i’m convinced it’s never going to happen… so frustrating!
agh, you just have great taste. I like most things here, I love to see art and ceramics, and utilitarian stuff by top craftsman. Actually, because I like your taste in general, I’d always love to see more art posts.
Yes on pillows! Especially colorful/quirky ones…and at lower prices than Anthro, perchance?
I am dying for the pink planter—I’ll have to be quick on the draw, I bet it will go fast!
I’d love to see more lighting, rugs, pillows, and storage options like woven or wire baskets, etc.
Cheers!
I don’t see any of the the macrame wall hangings up in Flea (even with a sold sign). Did I miss them?
