The Link Up: Em’s New Favorite TV Show, Gretch’s Awesome Camping Chair, And An Interview That Had Us Swooning!

Happy Sunday, everyone! It was another busy week (partially because it was short, so no complaints here:)) So, in the spirit of keeping things short, let’s wrap up this little intro since we don’t have any new updates and get to these links.

This week’s house tour is maybe the sweetest of Heidi Caillier’s projects to date. It’s a home in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and it’s exploding with charm. You really just have to go see it!

From Emily: Sorry for the double rec if you follow our Substack, but I’m just so thrilled about all the TV adaptations of these beloved romance novels (specifically, today Off Campus). I read an article this week that claimed “yearning” is super in with Gen Z, as opposed to more graphic sex scenes, and I was like, “Girl, yearning has always been it for me“. I’ve always enjoyed the “almost kissing” more than the actual ones of all my favorite teen shows (although Bridgerton season 1 really shattered that, their kissing is very acceptable). ANYHOW, Off Campus is so far fantastic. It’s steamy, has great chemistry, fantastic casting, and fun dialogue, and while it adheres to a trope which is technically always a cliche (this one falls squarely in the “fake dating” category, with the nerd/jock tension), there is something so comforting about knowing the plot, so you can really enjoy allllll the yearning. It’s on Amazon Prime. But I’m even more excited about Carley Fortune’s smash hit, Every Summer After, coming out as a series on Amazon Prime in a couple of weeks. Not to mention Ali Hazelwood’s Love Hypothesis, which, if you haven’t read it, you are in for a quick, fun treat. It’s a summer of love, folks, and I’m here for it!!!

From Jess: If you are looking for a really fun brand that has colorful, fun clothing for the summer that’s also size inclusive, you have to check out Never Fully Dressed. I’ve been shopping for my summer vacation, and I just love these clothes so much. Of course, I just bought a plain white tank, lol, but truly, I love their pieces so much.

From Gretchen: Last weekend, I went out to The Gorge Amphitheater with some friends for a music festival. I wish I could say it was a MAGICAL weekend, but after driving 4 hours from Portland to the venue and then waiting ELEVEN HOURS stuck in a car line of thousands of people waiting to get in…it was anything but. We thought we’d be able to set up camp around 5-6 pm, but didn’t end up getting our tents unpacked until about 2:30 am. It was wild. But it was an experience that ultimately made me extra grateful for my awesome friends, beautiful nature, and high-quality camping gear, which brings me to my link. For this trip, I desperately needed to upgrade my camping chair situation. The pair of chairs I had was mismatched, barely comfortable, and ultimately falling apart (think ember burn holes and ratty threads). After sitting in my friend’s double-wide camping chair at our last festival hangout, I knew it was the one for me. It’s a little on the spendier side, but amazing quality and sooo comfortable. It comes in an easy carrying case that doubles as a floor mat or dog bed, but is also a breeze to unload and pack up. It sits lower to the ground than a normal camping chair, making it extra easy to lounge, plus the double-wide nature makes it feel like you’ve got a sofa in your set-up! I bought the green one and love it, but my friends have it in the teal/brown combo, and it’s equally as cute. Highly recommend if you’re looking to upgrade your camping sit-sitch. And it looks like Backcountry is offering 20% off full-priced items until 6/1, so go stock up on your camping essentials!

From Marlee: Somehow I’ve gone my entire adult life without investing in a pair of nice sunglasses – I usually grab pairs from Madewell, which I love, but they’re more for looks. For some reason, I thought that you had to buy $100+ sunglasses in order to go glare-free in the sunlight. But I just bought these sunglasses for $68 because I loved the shape on me, and I was very pleasantly surprised when I went out in the sun, and they had no glare. They’re super cute, and now I’m not incredibly overstimulated every time I’m trying to walk around on a super bright day with no hat. Would recommend!

From Caitlin: This is not the type of content I’m used to consuming (I struggle to pay attention to celebrity/interview podcasts), but you SIMPLY MUST listen to Keke Palmer’s interview with Sean Evans (the guy from Hot Ones). Guys. THEIR CHEMISTRY IS INSANE. They’re flirty, they’re funny, they’re sweet – it had me grinning ear to ear while driving a U-Haul, which is saying something. You do not need to know anything about either person (I don’t follow either) – it’s like the IRL version of the yearning that Em details above. Sean has a huuuuuge crush, it’s blindingly obvious (the Mr. and Mrs. Evans line at the end in front of Keke’s mom! I YAWPED!), and their dynamic is so charming and unexpected. MUST LISTEN. I swear, it’s worth it. We can all develop weird parasocial relationships together!!! (I mean. THEY HAVE TO DATE!)

From Mallory: If you’re looking for a fire pit for your outdoor space this summer (that’s not thousands of dollars), might I recommend this one?? I just got it in white for my outdoor rooftop space, and I am a HUGE fan. It has a subtle terrazzo pattern which adds variation but still goes with everything, plus it’s hollow in the middle, and it weighs around 80 lbs, which is perfect – heavy enough that it won’t blow away but light enough that when you have to set it up or move it, it’s not going to throw your back out if you’re carrying it with another person. It comes in a ton of colors and is under $500! I also snagged this to hide the propane tank and function as a side table. I could not love this setup more!!

From Arlyn: During my move, I decided to downsize a lot of stuff I had that either no longer served me or I could imagine living without. My traditional air fryer (Instant Pot brand) didn’t necessarily hit either of those categories, but I had been itching to switch to something more non-toxic. I gave my old one to a neighbor and did a deep dive on less toxic versions. For a while, I was eyeing the Ninja glass version, but I read one too many stories of the glass exploding or shattering—NOPE. So I splurged on this Cosori one that has a full stainless steel body and a ceramic-coated interior basket, and so far it’s been awesome. It gets hotter (450) than my Instant Pot air fryer, has a beautiful glass-topped touch interface, and I feel better cooking in it for my family. It’s pricey, and I’m hoping that the ceramic coating lasts, but for now, I’m happy with it.

Thanks for taking a little time out of your day to hang with us and see you tomorrow for a VERY fun post we think a lot of you will be very curious about:) xx
