Cozy season is upon us, with “sweater weather” certainly being my favorite top du jour (likely worn while eating a soup). I found a few sweaters that I love in different styles (for different occasions), but all to feel comfortable, and many are pretty affordable. We were out at the coast all week, and it is absolutely fall weather, in the best of ways. Here’s what I’m loving:
Polo Sweater (Extra Small)
I really slept on the Aritzia train for a long time. I found their stuff just more “professional” than I am (very cool suits) and a bit too 90s (I’m getting there). But when I shopped in person the other day, I found SO MANY things, far more than I needed. That sweater above came in a few colors, has an excellent drape (just falls in a really flattering way), and the shape is drop shoulder, boxy, and lands perfectly below the waist. Preppy and comfy. It’s also oversized, FYI.
Westley Cashmere Polo | 100% Organic Cropped Cotton Polo Sweater
The polo is an easy one to layer over as well, with the collar giving it more of a professional vibe. Jess bought the one on the right and was raving about how light and soft it is.
Sweater (Medium) | Belt (Unavailable) | Jeans (Size 26 Short) | Shoes (Similar + Size 7)
I’m not the only one who loves this sweater (it’s gone viral), and for good reason. A great cut, covered button details, easy to layer over and under, and so affordable ($30). Also comes in a few other colors.
Navy and Ivory Stripe Taylor Cardigan | Wide-Hem Sweater
I especially like stripes sticking out of a jacket sleeve or underneath an oversized blazer – it adds that pop that says “I’m low-key pretty fun” while also being comfy.
Oversized Slouchy Cable-Knit Cardigan Sweater
Old Navy had this excellent oversized cable knit sweater that can act as a jacket or be oversized over leggings. It’s long, very comfortable, and if I were to wear it out, I’d add a scarf around my neck or a hat to give it a punch of pattern.
Scarf | Sweater (Small) | T-Shirt (Small) | Jeans (Size 27) | Belt (Medium) | Shoes (Size 7)
This one is so chunky, so stylish, and fits great if you like boxy and wide (and not very long). The color is also excellent – not too orange (for fall) but still feels so seasonal. Warning that is pretty chunky, so great to wear on its own or layer for warmth under puffy parkas, but nothing too fitted or will add bulk/bunch up.
100% Organic Cotton Cropped Cardigan | Marled Blue Colette Cardigan | CashSoft Oversized Chunky Cardigan
Here are some other great, chunkier options.
Sweater | Belt (Medium) | Jeans
This one was snuck into my dressing room by the salesperson (which is typically not my favorite move), but I tried it on for fun and, well, she was right. I immediately came out and said, “I would never have really been drawn to this” (mostly because it’s splurgy at $168), but my gosh, I forget how soft cashmere is. And the fit is great. I usually think thin sweaters like this aren’t that flattering, showing all the bits and bra strap bobs underneath, but not this one. It just smooths over them while also being loose. Looks like I need to give cashmere another go? I’ve worn this a lot under blazers, jackets, and as my first layer, but it can also be layered over a tank (but not a t-shirt – I think it would bunch up too much).
Blue Mist Cashmere Riley Cardigan | CashSoft Crop Cardigan
The one on the left can be monogrammed, which is pretty cute if that’s your vibe:)
Slouchy Cable-Knit Cardigan Sweater | Jeans (similar) | Boots (similar)
I wanted to try this varsity trend, which I’m not sure if it’s really me, but at $60, it’s pretty darn great. I think wearing it with a tiny skirt and tights, and maybe 1/2 tucking it would be the way to go? I love the stripe detail and the contrasting buttons.
We The Free On The Isle Cardi | Libby Knitted Jacket
Also, love these:) That red one is so good.
Sweatshirt (Extra Small)
I’m not selling it too hard in this photo, but this sweatshirt is GREAT. It’s super oversized (so great over leggings, but for me too big to wear over big pants) and has this deconstructed hem that feels very “The Great,” while not having the same price point. It’s literally called “Big Hug”.
Henley Sweater | Mongolian Cashmere Boatneck Sweater
You could throw these on for almost anything.
Sweater (Small)
This is another sweater that is FAR more comfortable than you’d think. It looks like it’s wool (and maybe it is), but it’s this crazy soft, fluffy blend that feels like you are wearing nothing, and yet is still so warm. Magic. It comes in burgundy and cream as well. The fair isle pattern is so classic, it’s thin enough to still layer well under coats (it looks chunky, but it’s medium weight and stretchy, so still easy to layer).
Fairisle Crew-Neck Cardigan Sweater
I just bought this one, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Perfect for fall and into the holidays (and winter in general).
Ciana Fair Isle Wool Blend Sweater | Embroidered Frill Sweater
These are obviously great too!
Sweater (Small) | Top (Small) | Scarf | Shorts (Size 27) | Belt (Medium) | Boots (Size 7)
Yes, this is my favorite as far as style goes. I’ve been wearing it like crazy – over all the t-shirts, with my boots, with the scarves, over stretch pants, around the house, and around the town. It’s just excellent, cool, stylish, warm, cozy, easy to wear – all the things.
Madeline Western Crew Sweater | Raglan Cardigan Sweater
I don’t own either of those above, but I sure want to. The blue stitch over the brown is PERFECT.
Sweater | Socks (similar) | SOFA!
For the sofa shoot last January, I had this in both brown and black, below, and the style has really taken off this season. It’s so simple, and yet the contrasting stitch detail takes it next level and keeps it from looking more basic/boring.
Romilla Whipstitch Sweater | Sienna Whipstitch Cardigan Sweater
2025 Rollneck™ Sweater | Opal Rollneck Sweater
As someone with larger ladies, I don’t wear high-necked sweaters much, but these are all so classic, pretty, and look like they drape really well.
Straw Hannah Wool Blend Turtleneck Sweater
Happy sweater weather, ladies 🙂
