It is officially summer and officially (well almost) the weekend, and that means it is the season of summer entertaining and parties. When your table is set with style you look like you have your life together. That is a fact. So we asked one of our market researchers, Jeran from Oleander and Palm to pull together some easy, affordable (all under $50 per setting), and completely off the shelf dinnerware combos.
Blue, Blush, Copper and a subtle mix of texture and pattern make this one very on trend right now. I am very into the mix of colors and textures.
Glass | Dinner Plate | Napkin | Salad/Dessert Plate | Cutlery | Placemat
For those of you that are looking for a modern take on a traditional motif like a floral pink and green color scheme, this one is for you. Those little mint cups are just the right size for the perfect cocktail in which to put in your cocktail hole.

It’s modern and it’s bold but the woven placement, and the dark grey plate help it from going too contemporary.

This one isn’t in my typical color scheme, but I am loving the fun summery vibe of it. I have used those salad plates before and they are so great looking in person.

You know you can’t go wrong with navys, whites, and golds for a classic updated look.

A little bit granny, a little bit modern, and with a few tassels to really speak to my heart. The copper and tassels on the placemat help it from going too “grandma’s dining table.”

This one is both kinda scary and pretty fun. This is for those of you that are looking to glam up your tablescape a bit. It is a bit more formal than some of the other combos, but the black, white, and gold make it a winner and something that you can use year round.

It’s graphic, fun, and a little bit dizzying. Sounds like a good party to me.

If you aren’t scared of making your table pop then this graphic black and white combo with a hot pink hit are sure to please. I have that gold flatware in my kitchen drawers right now and man is it good.

And of course, for your pinning pleasure, we have pulled it all together in one big graphic so that you can reference back to it whenever you are in need of some tablescape inspiration. Which one is your favorite? Nailgun to my head I would have to say Dose of Denim or Nautical Navy.
Such a great post, ‘dose of denim’ and ‘muted mint’ for me please!!

Loving these combos.
Love this post! I got married three years ago and my biggest regret is not registering for dinnerware and flatware I love. We have hand-me-down dishes that we use that are not my style AT ALL, and they bum me out a little every time I use them. I’m saving up to buy some that I truly love; does anyone have any advice for choosing the perfect cutlery and dishes? Or have suggestions for where I can find affordable bold-colored and/or Moroccan-inspired tableware?
Try World Market!
The CB2 intermix set looks pretty cool. I clicked on the green plate–the whole set looks nice together.
For everyday plates, I eventually upgraded my mishmash of hand-me-downs and random collected dinnerware to the plain, white “Aspen” collection from Crate & Barrel. Best move ever. They go with everything, and it’s easy to add new pieces because they are just white. I agree that for something bold like you are looking for, World Market is great. You may also have luck at Home Goods, I have been very surprised by what I’ve found there.
If you don’t buy fine china, you can get a full set at a totally reasonable price. Stoneware can be so pretty, while also durable and affordable. If you pick the right colors, any solid color set could go beautifully with some patterned pieces with a Moroccan flare. In my neightborhood, there are a number of small Arabic shops where you can get the kinds of things you’re looking for, but as for national chains, I’m not as sure. I’d probably try World Market or Pier One for something like that. Personally, I’m kind of obsessed with pieces that show the hand of the maker. I have a set of white dishes from Crate and Barrel that were handmade in Portugal and only cost about $30/place setting of everything you need. A number of their lines also come in multiple colors, which might set the mood you want, especially if you throw in some coordinating patterned pieces. I’ve also seen some great stuff at Home Goods.
Thank you everybody for these great suggestions! Beautiful dishes, here I come… 🙂
I love 80s Elegant.
My favorite is dose of denim!
My zen self would def go with Global Green. Question: I notice most of the drinking glasses are kinda squatty. Is that what the cool kids are drinking out of these days? Is the idea that it’s a wineglass minus the stem?
They all are lovely! My favorites are Nautical Navy, Bold Black and White!
Nautical Navy and Global Green are my favorites. However, the salad plate in Nautical Navy seems too fussy for me personally, I wonder if my SO would be disappointed in me if I abruptly replaced all of our diningware with Global Green?
Interesting post ! I really like it . Appreciate it . Thanks for share such kind of informative post .
While nautical navy is more my home style, ( I actually used that placemat to cover a decorative box), I really love the global green combination. Definitely going to have fun with this one. I think it’s versatile enough to go with any decor. Thank you for all the wonderful looks!
