The fact that we have made it to August feels a bit mindblowing. But we also made it to Sunday (YES!) and that is cause for a little celebration. We hope that you can find at least a few moments where you do something that is purely for you. And if that is only the chance to read this link up then please know that we are honored! Let’s get right to it then.
We don’t know about you but this kitchen (and home) looks like what a Sunday afternoon should feel like. Sophia and Simon Cook so effortlessly mixed modern elements like the tile and cabinetry with vintage decor and architecture. And just wait until you see the bedrooms. This is clearly a home full of joy.
From Emily: A VERY exciting reveal is coming at you this week and this Sailing Ship Kite may be involved:) Ok, it is involved and I love it because it’s sculptural, playful, and has such a visual impact without being super loud. Anyone else excited/terrified for this reveal???
From Sara: I got a mask from this Etsy store and it’s amazing. It comes with a pocket filter, AND filters, has a really nice design, and comes in a lot of cute fabric options.
From Caitlin: Cousin Greg from Succession just put out a charity single called Antibodies (Do You Have The) through Atlantic Records and it’s SO CATCHY. It was produced by my old roommate, Colin, and a portion of proceeds go to Cope and Partners in Health. (Also can we talk about how Roman, Tom, and Greg the Egg all nabbed Emmy nominations this week for best-supporting actor?! Out of the 3, who do you think has the best shot at winning? I thiiiiink Tom is the strongest contender but UGH. Roman is my favorite!!)
Also From Caitlin: SOS. Which is your favorite real estate app/site? I’m noticing that each of the ones I’ve downloaded have different info on what’s contingent, what’s pending, and sometimes even what’s actually sold. Which one do you trust the most?
From Julie: This year especially I’ve been trying to prioritize my health and be more conscious of what I put into my body. So I’ve started to regularly include a superfood powder into my morning routine. It has made me feel so much better on a day to day basis and it’s just nice to know that I’ve checked that box on getting the right nutrients I need first thing.
From Ryann: I am never not buying jeans. Even when it is 100 degrees outside, I will convince myself that yes, I do in fact need another pair of vintage Levi’s. Recently, wanting to reduce the amount of clothes I buy, I started using Rent The Runway again. I really love it and the best thing I have ordered so far is these jeans. They are SO flattering and I’ve worn them 5 days straight. They are rigid though so I had to size up about 2 sizes. 10/10 recommend!!
From Jess: I honestly can’t remember where I saw the ad but it got me good because now I own a Neck Hammock. I know we all love hammocks over here but this is on a new level and doesn’t require and outdoor space. It was designed by a licensed physical therapist and according to the site, it helps to improve neck, head or shoulder pain, tension headaches, poor posture, poor sleep due to anxiety and restless thinking before bed to name a few. I want to improve ALL OF THAT. Definitely check the site to make sure it’s a good fit for you but next time we talk I plan on being a whole new human.
From Mallory: I never realized how much joy new towels could spark until I bought new towels myself. These bad boys are so cute, comfy, and come with a little tie that makes it SUPER easy to hang them on a hook…genius! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of getting out of the shower and wrapping myself in one of these. Truly a 10/10 towel rec.
That’s it for today! Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday and we hope some kind of hammock is involved:) See you tomorrow!

Sara, which specific mask did you buy, looks like there are several styles. I am on the hunt for a comfortable, adjustable, mask that fits the nose and is less likely to steam my glasses.
The Origami style!
Caitlin, I use Zillow, mostly, but also Redfin for real estate. They both have been reliable as far as I can tell.
I love the house tour, as usual. Mixing old world with a bit of modern is my favorite!
There’s a few other articles with more pics if you look for them.
Oh, and loads more on her instagram:
Thanks! I didn’t see the Instagram or Domino article. Looked at the Modern House one, since they did link to that one above. I’ll check out the other two.
I think I have tried pretty much all the real estate apps, and while it is not my favorite, Zillow has the most listings. The others tend not to capture homes that are for sale by owner, for example. I find it easiest to set up searches on desktop and then use the app for notifications.
I also use realtor.com, because it’s more user-friendly and often will included historical listing info.
Some of the other apps are better designed (e.g., estately), but they don’t subscribe to all the MLS services, so you might miss a good chunk of properties.
Jess – I’m a physical therapist and the neck hammock is great, but you could’ve saved $50 and just used a towel. Look up “towel traction” and you’ll find something like this…. It feels great! Enjoy!
Thank you, Rachel! I’m going to try this.
I’m in the process of moving from New Orleans to Nevada City and I have found that between realtor.com and Redfin, I get good information and listings. One great feature of Redfin is that you can save listings and then include a co-buyer (in this case my husband) and your realtor. That way, everyone can share and view comments on the saved listings.
Thanks for these! I think maybe the link is missing to the sailing ship kite?
Thanks, I was looking for that too! Sounds awesome.
I’ve seen ads for the neck hammock and wondered if it’s really good or gimmicky…so glad you gave us the review!!!
If your realtor is like mine, they will have a password for you to access their MLS list serve so you can see those as soon as they come up!
I have wanted those towels for so long!!! I may have to get them now that I know they are recommended.
Years ago, I worked for an association for people who worked for MLSs. I was always told that realtor.com was the most reliable as they get their information directly from MLSs.
Caitlin, in my area (Seattle, where things go FAST), Redfin is much better than Zillow for house hunting. It’s got something to do with Redfin being an MLS whereas Zillow just gets info from MLS? (I’m not a pro). When we were looking, there would be houses already under contract by the time they APPEARED for sale on Zillow. Redfin is typically always lightning quick with property status updates. That said, I’m a landlord, and I love Zillow’s rental platform and services. And Zillow is also great for more complete property histories, which sometime Redfin scrubs for some reason. So you might use Redfin (sort by “time on Redfin” for newest listings) to know what’s newly available, pending, etc., but also consult Zillow to sometimes find older photos of the home and price details from prior listings. Hope that’s helpful (and relevant in SoCal)!
The article is great, it gives me new ideas for decorating the house. I bought some wall hanging products on the web: The product is very beautiful and I completely changed my rooms when hanging the pictures on the wall.
I looooove the Cooks’ home! It is so original and inspiring. Great feature! I’m loving all the homes you are sharing lately! :)
a vote for Realtor.com! It’s more accurate and up to date than Zillow.
That’s interesting, Sara! I like the way you make your table higher…It’s really smart idea. Hope to see more inspirations about home decoration from your blog…
Caitlin,
My boyfriend just bought a house and his agent told him not to use Zillow, but to use Realtracs or Redfin for the most accurate information. When he first started looking at houses he was exclusively using Zillow and every house he’d send his agent was already under contract or off the market. Realtracs and Redfin are updated in real time. Hope this helps!
It also looks like Realtracs is a Nashville based website only. So my bad!
I dont get to read here much anymore- back to school prep and no upcoming renovations, plus trying not to buy anything during these uncertain economic times, etc, but I love the weekend link-up! I finally made the maple blueberry scones someone here recommended ages ago that I bookmarked, and they are amazing (I’m putting maple glaze on all baked goods from now)! As an educator, I also appreciate the mask suggestion posts.
