Portland design appearance for a good cause

I’m in Portland, up here for an HGTV appearance with Molly’s Fund for Fighting Lupus and judging the Design Competition that is associated with it.  It was so fun meeting the design community up here and then ripping them apart with all the other judges. KIDDING.  But if you guys get a chance the next few days to see how 20 local designers design a space around the concept of ‘Serving Up Style’ you should. I think you’ll really enjoy it, plus its for a good cause.   It’s there til sunday at 6pm at the Expo center, in Portland.

Here are some of my favorites – i didn’t take pics of all of them because i was running around like a crazy person and i don’t have links because i’m writing this right now like a crazy person, so i’m sorry if you aren’t included or linked to.  I’ll try to update when i get back tonight.

Enjoy.

Penny floor, chevron postit walls, weird lincoln paintings and custom retro doors = a very exciting space.

by Garrison Hullinger  Plus their team is crazy entertaining and fun and young.  Insta-friends.

Yellow lego rhino by their local lego-artist friend, because everyone has a lego artist friend.

I loved this whimsical hot air balloon. Clearly this is more conceptual, but i like the concept.  The basket with weird orange flowers underneath it is like the hot air balloon basket and fire.

This was one of the spaces that was more like a well-designed room. Not my style necessarily but a very well-decorated space with a lot of broad appeal.

This was one of my other favorite spaces by Abode.  It didn’t push a lot of boundaries, but i loved everything in it. They partnered with Rejuvenation, which is awesome.

And this was my pic for best overall design.  It was totally cohesive, it pushed the boundaries, it was well styled and architecturally totally interesting.

There are a ton more, but these were my favorites.

Check it out. I must run, i have many coffees to drink, food carts to eat at and vintage stores to shop. Plus 45 siblings to hang out with…….
