A Quick Update

Happy Weekend – off to Vegas (and i’m snapchatting)

emily henderson home
Happy Weekend, folks. I’m wrapping work up from the dining table where I took this shot and we have super fun weekend plans (two ‘Escape the Rooms’ and grandparents in town to watch the kids  – thus the 2 ‘Escape The Rooms’.) We are headed to Vegas on Monday for the furniture show (don’t worry, we have a post all scheduled for once) so if any of you are going to be in Vegas, lets hang.

A few of you have asked if the contributors have already been writing, some people even saying ‘that doesn’t sound like you’ but I’m still almost writing every post. I say ‘almost’ because Brady and Sara prep it and do some writing before I take over. We have, however, found three contributors which are going to start debuting. You’ll know it because they’ll be introduced as such – no sneaky ghost writing over here. We also added two new designers to our design team to help keep up with client work.

A few of you have also asked about new makeovers and rest assured designing is happening and some projects are near the end, while many are in the middle and some just got started. So stay tuned. I’m dying to show you Elliot’s nursery and the guest suite downstairs. Neither of which are TOTALLY done but they are pretty close and both will be probably be published so technically they won’t be on the blog for months (which is hard on everyone, mostly me because i like to show off my new toys). That being said I have been snapchatting on the weekends in both rooms, showing the stages its in. I know that many of you, like me, were like SNAPCHAT WHAT ARE YOU 14 YEARS OLD?? But I am 27 (at heart) and yes, it is super fun. It took a while for me to not care that it looks like garbage, but once I did I realized how fun it is to not be scripted or edited and just to give these super small glimpes into everyday life and work. I’ve even periscoped once. I don’t know if I’ll be doing that this weekend but head on over there just in case. I’m EmilyHendersonsnap on snapchat (or am I emhendersonsnap? … hold on while I ask a millenial) and I’m em_henderson on Periscope.

OH WHICH REMINDS ME …. Literally the whole reason for this post that I totally forgot about was to say that we are all going to be snapping and periscoping from Vegas. You’ll get to see us totally unfiltered/unedited while we are there (its live but then it stays up on both apps for 24 hours). You’ll see some sneaks into a. our process, b. our parties and c. the best new stuff that is going to come out in the design world. So follow along on Instagram, Snapchat and Periscope (and facebook, twitter and the blog … GEEEEEEEZZZZZZ).

P.S. Thanks all 300k of you who now follow on instagram – hit that milestone yesterday which made me really happy.

  1. Nooo, now I will feel like I am missing out by not being on Snapchat or Periscope (what even is that?). I am such a bad millennial, but I hate having so many different mediums to keep track of. Please keep Instagramming and have fun!

    1. Periscope is a live video feed. I’ve come across it for work, people periscope seminars and training sessions. And events.

I recently googled “what’s that logo with a yellow ghost”. Answer was Snapchat. #outoftouch

  2. I love snapchat! I’m turning 38 in two weeks and I really love it! :) You can be spontaneous and silly because everything deletes in 24 hours! I’m definitely gonna follow you! :)

  3. I’m bummed because I’ve been in Vegas on vacation since Saturday, and my hubby and I are leaving tomorrow! So sad to miss you. Have more fun for me!

  4. Love what you have to say but your blog header drives me insane. It covers almost a third of the screen. Lose the round do hickey and everything above that. You are giving away too much real estate.Am I the only person disturbed by this?

    1. It’s pretty big and doesn’t really serve much of a function. The site could easily start from the gray bar. I don’t like the stripey background, that somehow doesn’t feel like Emily at all.

The flowers should go somehwre, but the logo graphic could be more horizontal, instead of being so tall.

    2. I’m not bothered because I scroll down. It would be kinda fun if the colors on the flowers changed occasionally. I think it’s fun.

  5. Hi HI,
Enjoy Vegas and the design show – sounds super fun!
I was wondering, did you move the too large chandelier from the dining room into your entry way? (I faintly remember you saying you sold it (it feels weird revealing that..). Either way, that puppy looks great there.
    Cheers!

  6. I LOVE Snapchat! I just started following you there :D I’m “blwideas”, just like my other social stuff. I do cooking and homeschool and DIY stuff with my 2-year-old! Like, all day long. I have a dry little life, buuuut it’s fun to share it with my followers! Can’t wait to see how you implement it. It’s always really neat to see behind-the-scenes and “real life” from the (seemingly) perfect people we follow!

  7. How’d you guys do in the Escape Rooms? Did you find that your break in between help or hurt your chances? ;)

Btw, I’m really enjoying the variety of new content on the blog. Keep it up!

  8. Hi Emily,

Long-time reader and Vegas resident. Not sure where you are staying, but check out Therpy on Fremont St. downtown for dinner and EAT for breakfast (6th and Carson). Both are so good. Enjoy your time here.

    Sara

  9. I was just thinking (as I saw your instagram post today) that you need to be on snapchat! You should continue to snap! I’ll speak for all of us, we would love to see more of your life.
