The Link Up: Emily’s New Kitchen Tool That’s Changed Her Salads, Jess’ Picks For Cool Bachelorette Party Decorations, And Ryann’s Big Announcement

Happy August y’all and a happy one it is! Our very own Ryann Miller shall now be forever known as Ryann Trombetti. That’s right, our gal had the sweetest courthouse wedding with just their parents by their sides last weekend and we all could not be happier for her and her HUSBAND, Rocky. Even though it was just Ryann who got married, I think we are all riding high on this celebration of love. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Trombetti! Now that we are all in a good mood, let’s get into these links and what we can only assume is a very Ryann-approved home tour:)

This week’s house tour is not only EHD/Ryann-approved because Ryann and the owner share a maiden name, ha. But also that its charm and soul are almost overwhelming. This 16th-century thatched-roof cottage, that’s straight out of a storybook, was restored by Sienna Miller’s (the homeowner) friend and director, Gaby Dellal. Actually, Gaby gave Sienna her first acting job! The story is wonderful, the interiors are breathtaking yet completely welcoming, and there’s almost an infinite amount of vintage. Check the rest out here!

From Emily: After 4 years of heavy chopping for soups/salads and refusing to buy those weird “As Seen On TV” chopping tools with a ton of annoying accessories (no offense if you love those!), I finally bought myself a Mandolin and it’s EXCELLENT. This was spurred by my desire to prep out salad makings on Sunday for the week – I wanted those super thin radishes, carrots, and slightly thicker cucumber. I read a ton of reviews and watched videos before I settled on this one, which is very simple (only 2 parts), yet has enough variety in settings to make thicker slices if needed. So many mandolins that were recommended were beautiful french or Japanese and over $200 so I just put it off forever, not willing to spend that (and frankly intimidated by the amount of functionality). This one is $50 (still an investment for a KITCHEN TOOL, but not $200) and so far I’ve LOVED IT. Lunchtime salad assembly for Bri and I is an absolute breeze. I really should show you my chopped salad formula, it’s absolutely delicious and is something I look forward to eating all morning every day.

From Ryann: The secret is out! I got hitched last Friday!!! My now HUSBAND and I eloped at Beverly Hills City Hall and it was perfect. The plan wasn’t always to get married on a random Friday but when we were at city hall getting our marriage license, we sort of spontaneously decided to make an appointment for a civil ceremony (you can read this post if you are curious why we opted for a city hall wedding versus a more traditional one). ANYWAY, I only had a few days to get a dress and after ordering and returning a bunch of white dresses that didn’t fit right, I finally bought this one and fell in love. It has a beautiful pink and white floral pattern and fit like a glove. At first, I was sad I couldn’t find a white dress that I loved, but it ended up being the perfect vibe for our sweet and intimate city hall wedding. The brand is called Selkie and they make GORGEOUS whimsical dresses for brides and/or for any occasion and the price is extremely reasonable for the quality. The whole day felt like a dream and this dress was just the icing on the cake!

From Jess: I have been WAITING for this home tour! I am a big Elaine Welteroth fan. So when she and her husband moved to LA, bought a home, and were shopping for lots of vintage, I couldn’t wait to see what they would come up with. It’s calm, full of soft curved shapes, and so much love (especially now with their beautiful baby in tow). Still crossing my fingers that one day our paths with cross and we’ll become friends:) In the meantime go check it out!

Also From Jess: The last bachelorette party of the year is upon us (well, for me at least:)) But this one is for my cousin best friend (CBF) that I helped coordinate. We aren’t big penis-shaped everything/tons of matching things that we likely won’t use again. So I kept what I bought minimal, affordable, cute, and mostly from Etsy. This customizable banner (retro font), these biodegradable balloons (hopefully they actually are but better than the alternative, right?), these customizable wine bottle labels, and these woven visors (there are nicer ones out there but we needed to save $$$). Her other friend picked out this super cute veil headband and got fun custom temporary tattoos of my cousin’s fiance and dog’s face (here are some options: these and these). I can’t tell which one she’ll be more excited about… just kidding, it will be Barney (her pup). The last thing I did was buy extra polaroid film for my camera so that my cousin and all of us can have some physical photos to take home with us. If you are planning a bachelorette I hope this helps!

From Caitlin: I am OBSESSED with the fresh (and kind of like…flirty??) cut of these new Nisolo boots!!! I get more comments on my d’Orsay Oxfords than literally ANY other pair of shoes I own – they are VERY chic and timeless but also fun and easy to wear, which is a suuuuper hard balance to strike – and I love that I can continue to rock that silhouette in a more fall/winter-appropriate way. ADDED TO CART SO FAST. (I think I’m opting for black, but the bone is also calling to me. Thoughts???)

From Mallory: I have officially been wearing this sports bra for nearly 5 years now and it’s STILL my favorite. It’s such a classic, has the prettiest back, and has a great amount of support for the little ladies. I can’t recommend it enough – I have it in white and black so they go with all of my colorful workout pants and I still wear them every day. Also, size up…I wear a 6 in this and I’m usually a 4

Our Erik Staalberg is A STAR! Grab a martini and enjoy this video🙂

Congrats again to the Trombetti’s and see y’all tomorrow!!

Yes to a chopped salad recipe! I’m in a healthy food rut… very tired of boring salads.

Emily, I second that! I love chopped salad’s and eat a lot of them too, they are a great way to eat lots of veggies and greens. I try and eat 9 servings of fruits and veggies a day (for health reasons initially) usually hit 8, and 9 if I eat a frozen banana for desert! 🙂 Feeling great from eating this way really beats how I feel when I eat a lot of processed foods – a hard lesson learned as I finally return to good health! 🙂

Absolutely Chris S.! 🙂
It’s hard, so much back sliding on my part, it’s a struggle, and the good thing is I seem to be winning and I hope you do too! 🙂
Watching NutritionFacts.org videos while eating my lunch has been really helpful this past month, helps to keep me making the right choices! 🙂

Caitlin – I have the bone in the Chelsea boots and LOVE them. On someone who’s skin is Pantone Casper, they actually read almost a true skin color nude rather than a stark white!

Wow! This is the best link up in aaaages!!!

CONGRATULATIONS MR & MRS TROMBETTI! 🥳💖🥂🍾 (Gorgeous dress!!)

Erik’s video was so fun!! Whoo hoo!😀

That first house tour!! Man! I’m in lurve!!! ❤❤❤ I could simply move in. Perfect!!!

That’s it! I’m gonna buy a mandolin! I’ve eyed them for ages. I’m vegetarian, so there’s a l.o.t. of chopping going on here. Now I need to find a decent one that’s cheaper than $50. 🤞

I really appreciate that you tried with the balloons, Jess. 🎈

“Does this mean it’s OK to release latex balloons into the air?
No. While latex balloons are biodegradable, the length of time it takes these balloons to decompose varies based on environmental conditions. So they should be properly disposed of in a garbage bin or composted.”

So, I guess turtles, other ocean creatures and seabirds will still eat them instead of actual food. 🙁
I really *like* the fun and visual impact of balloons, but chose to give them up several years ago bc I don’t *need* them – there are alternative decorative effects. (Similarly, rose petals jnstead of confetti)

Rusty – OXO also has a handheld mandolins for about $20. I don’t know how it would hold up to heavy use but they are a good brand. I recently got a “Kyocera Advanced Ceramic Adjustable Mandoline Vegetable Slicer with Handguard” for the same amount and while I’m not sure how long the rotating thing on the back that creates the slicing width will last, it whipped right through a raw cauliflower.

A quick safety note, I highly recommend getting a mandolin that comes with a safety glove or buying a safety to use with your mandolin! Mandolins are really fantastic for slicing thinly but they are SHARP and I know a friend who got a serious injury as a result. A cut-resistant glove is so easy to use, and I also use it with my box grater and found it works great to protect my hands there too. safety first!!

Rusty – I’ve been looking at mandolins too – we are vegan, so yes, lots of chopping every day. I often buy kitchen items at Bed, Bath & Beyond and use 20% off coupons. Do you have similar stores in Australia that offer coupons? Although OXO has great products and it’s worth the splurge on an item you’d use daily. If you set aside $10 per month, you’d have the money saved up in 5 months. Haha, I can justify anything.

Haha…that’s how I think, too! I think @$30 seems reasonable.
I bought an expensive garlic crusher and it’s lasted ages!

We have Bed, Bath and TABLE. LOL🤣
They’re a bit different to yhe US stores. Mostly bedding and decorative homewares. No furniture, pots or pans, etc.

Hi Rusty, I have been seeing a LOT of used mandolin’s at my local Goodwill (US thrift stores) recently. I had wanted one for many years when a friend gave me theirs when they moved so I have one now, but if I didn’t I would have gotten one at the Goodwill! My fingers are crossed for you to find one there Rusty! 🙂 Also, FUN FIND this week at my local Goodwill, a vintage penguin ice bucket! It’s the same one that was shown in the 8/19/22 blog post, “The Office Reveal with a Really Unique and Unexcepted Accent Wall that You Can DIY” https://stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/minimalist-office-design-ideas Kj posted a link (thank you!) about it which I followed and read because I thought it was a really cool item. I passed on it originally after pushing it around my cart until putting it with the bar ware (I found it in the pots and pans) because I already have 2 silver plated ice buckets I had found there over the past year which I will be using for planters. When I finished my grocery shopping I went back to buy it and it was still there! 🙂 I am going to… Read more »

Our Op Shops (opportunity shops) aswe call them, don’t have many items like that. More china, frames, etc. I wonder if our laws impact this? 🤔

So happy for you getting that ice bucket!!😀

I bought a complicated mandoline that I never use – too many pieces to put together and take apart and clean. I pretty much use this Oxo Grate and Slice which is basically a mini mandoline and also a grater – $33 in the US. https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Complete-Grate-Slice/dp/B09G4YX529/ref=asc_df_B09G4YX529/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=532658161613&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7638669731974146430&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031553&hvtargid=pla-1440766054796&psc=1

Caitlin! Love the d’Orsay Oxfords – what do you do about socks? Do you wear any? Maybe those little toe and ankle numbers? I worry without socks, they’d get gross! (PS I have a belt from the brand that I love)
