Sunrise Video, The makeover in action

I can’t believe all the amazing comments from yesterday. Thank you so so so much for reading, engaging, caring, commenting, and overall just being so supportive. Orlando and I loved every minute of it and it just gets more rewarding every second.

So in case you didn’t get enough and want to see it in action, here’s the video of the makeover for your viewing pleasure. Share it around if you are so inclined.

And remember, if you have a family member in need of assisted living check out the “Tour of Homes” event at Sunrise throughout June 2 – 8. Check out their site to find the community nearest you.

Thanks again, you guys.  I’m on cloud nine right now.

  4. Not only did you make me want to live in a senior citizen’s home {see how your genius works Emily + Orlando?? ;) } but you kinda of changed how I see senior’s living (which is good because I work with A-LOTTA of them). Still contemporary, inspirational and so many activities built into that room. Seriously, talented(!) work guys.

    Em,
Wonderful wonderful – truly wonderful job. Our seniors are sadly forgotten in most cases and your lovely spirit reminds us how important they are to our families and our country. Your design work was amazing in this space. Simply beautiful.

What a wonderful space, Emily and Orlando. This is truly special. Every space you do is special, but this one keeps ya smiling long after you leave the computer. I think you have inspired people to remember we all live here together, and hopefully in inspiring spaces. People of older age have just as much to offer as those younger than them..probably more. Thanks for sharing~

Such a great project. Can’t say enough good things about Sunrise. My Dad has been a resident for more than 5 years at a Sunrise Memory Care Center. Sunrise is an outstanding provider. Emily thanks for sharing this very inspiring project.

Long time reader, first time commenter. I felt COMPELLED to say that this is by far one of the sweetest and most inspiring posts I’ve read on any design blog–ever. Fran’s story is just too awesome. Emily, I’ve always thought you embodied all the higher qualities of design–transformation, individualism, accessibility. This post exemplifies all of that.

  10. Emily – I love love love the room! So fun that you could partner with Fran for this – she seems like such a sweet lady. I love that you are using your online space to bless people. It looks incredible.

Haven’t yet commented, but have been following you since the Homies. This was truly such a feel good series. Wish more bloggers showed as much heart as you do!

  17. Cheryl

Just the best makeover ever! You created a “home” for the bestest. So beautiful in every way.

  18. Angeline

Your generosity (and that of your entire team) teared me up! Congratulations!

  19. Lori

I want to hug Fran. That’s not weird, right?

I loved this!! I had to move my aunt into a senior community last year so I know how bland the rooms can look. We were able to pick out the paint color for her place and that made such a difference for her. Seeing what you did for Fran and how much it meant to her was so wonderful!

  21. You made me tear up! I love seniors too. I grew up with both sets of grandparents around all the time and I miss them so much (my last living grandparent is my Nana who is 105 and living in a nursing home). I have lived overseas for the last 6 yrs so don’t get to see my Nana very often. I want to hug Fran too! What a wonderful thing you did here.

    This makes my heart warm!
